Responsibilities
Led a large scale UX initiative designing 11 new features and redesigning 4 existing ones across internal and external platform experiences

Overview

Originally called Digital Banking Hub (renamed to Digital Banking Analyzer in 2023), the platform struggled with outdated UI and a lack of cohesive UX. Most focus had been placed on Feature Explorer and Journey Explorer, while the Reports function required a separate login on a different platform. The experience lacked consistency, and the process for conducting competitive analyses was fragmented, creating additional pain points for users.

As the Senior UX Designer, I stepped in to evolve the platform into what it is today. After meeting with the Senior Program Manager and the Head of Omnichannel Experience, it was clear there was a long roadmap of priorities requested by both internal teams and clients. I led the transformation of the platform by identifying and prioritizing key areas that required new features, redesigns, and innovation to deliver a modern, cohesive experience.

Product background

The Digital Banking Analyzer is the most comprehensive digital banking competitive analysis platform on the market, trusted by 11 of the Top 20 U.S. consumer banks.

Starting point

When I joined the team, there was no active UX designer, so I took the lead in reimagining the platform one feature at a time across both internal and external views. After conducting walkthroughs of the platform, I mapped out the sitemap, which centered on subscribed clients logging in to set up complex searches for competitive analysis across products, experiences, and categories. Although clients could access a dashboard of saved and recent searches, user testing showed they preferred starting new searches each time, which made the process repetitive and time consuming.

Legacy UI (before redesign)

Below are examples of the original interface, which revealed inconsistencies in layout, visual hierarchy, and data presentation.

The challenge

A key challenge was modernizing a complex, data heavy platform without disrupting the experience clients relied on daily. My goal was to simplify the interface while maintaining the integrity of essential tools and workflows. Designing new, data driven features that complemented existing functionality was equally important. Each enhancement needed to feel seamless and cohesive, balancing innovation with stability to create a more intuitive and scalable experience.

The opportunity

To improve usability and scalability, I collaborated with the Senior Program Manager to first redesign the internal view of the platform, creating a more intuitive and brand aligned experience for analysts. This foundation then guided the external redesign, where clients gained access to refreshed interfaces and newly developed, data driven features. Over four years, I helped deliver 11 new features and redesigned 4 existing ones, elevating both the platform’s usability and performance.

UI/UX design methods

User research

I led research efforts by creating, moderating, and validating conceptual designs and prototypes.

  • Moderated Usability Testing

  • Unmoderated Usability Testing

  • Competitive Analysis

  • A/B Testing

  • Affinity Diagramming

  • Surveys

  • Readouts

User experience

I led the initiative to define user flows, journeys, and sitemaps while driving strategy and requirements gathering to uncover how clients used the platform and where experience gaps existed, ensuring a cohesive experience across all features.

  • Content Strategy

  • Journey Mapping

  • Empathy Mapping

  • Informational Architecture

  • User Flows

User interface

While creating a new design system from scratch, I maintained a consistent brand look and feel and added new components as needed. Any updates or changes were thoroughly communicated with the engineering team to ensure agility, alignment, and cohesiveness throughout the process.

  • Branding

  • Wireframing

  • Prototyping

  • Visual Design

  • Data Driven Design

Rebuilding the platform’s information architecture was key to improving navigation, discoverability, and scalability. The comparison below shows how the 2021 sitemap evolved into a streamlined, user centered structure by 2025.
